I have using ‘sudo crontab -e’ to set rtcwake however it has not worked. My full command was ’40 21 * * * rtcwake -m off -l -t $(date +%s -d ’21:50′)’ This was done as root and was a test to see if the cron would work at the given the times hower to no avail. I checked if my crontab was working by creating a file and determined that it does indeed work just not with rtcwake. Finally, when not scheduled as a cron rtcwake works fine.

I'm new to Linux and trying to learn, so please be patient with me. :) I had someone else install Ubuntu for me in the past and used it intermittently :)
