Putting Server Host Names in AcrylicHosts.txt

I just spent a bit of time trying to figure out how to get a Server Host name like MY-PROD-SERVER into the Acrylic Configuration file AcrylicHosts.txt. For some reason Acrylic would not recognize just <ip_addr> MY-PROD-SERVER as nslookup MY-PROD-SERVER would return Non-existent domain.

After some trial and error the solution is to put a wildcard character * at the end like <ip_addr> MY-PROD-SERVER*.

Can anybody explain why this is the case and if there is any documentation for Acrylic explaining this? I could not find any notes on this odd quirk.
