Deluge 2.0 too many open files and fastresume fails to open list of torrents

Problem The list of torrents takes time to load at startup with the current version of Deluge 2.0.3 from the offical ppa deluge-stable from the deluge team. This Deluge release is 6 month old and I have not seen many people reporting that error considering the popularity. Any other Ubuntu 18.04 users have encountered the […]

Why does I/O cause my system to become almost nonresponsive, and how to fix it?

I’m recovering data from a hard disk. The disk is in good working order; a collection of files were deleted by accident. I’m using photorec, with the location to store recovered files on another physical disk. My OS and swap are on separate devices from these. However, running photorec makes my system essentially unusable. It […]

Rsync over ssh copies all files every time

We are using rsync to backup one external drive to another external drive. When the two drives are connected to our Ubuntu machine, it works perfectly: rsync -avzh –exclude=’_quarantine’ /media/archive00/ /media/archiveX/archive00/ However, when we try to do the same operation on the same drive connected to a local server over ssh, it tries to copy […]

What does puppet do to fix a ‘stuck’ systemctl service where systemctl would refuse to start a service?

We had a scenario where on RHEL we couldn’t start an application that had been running and we had just stopped. sudo systemctl start myservice We didn’t have access to the journald logs on this server, so the state of the server was a mystery. The application instance didn’t ‘start’ as it logs verbosely, and […]

Limiting the scope of glob qualifiers in zsh

I’m almost certain that this is not something that the zsh shell provides a way of doing, but I thought I’d ask anyway just to make sure I’m not missing anything from the manual. With the zsh shell, I can pick out the two largest visible files from a directory with the pattern *(.OL[1,2]) If […]

Persistent storage for faust tables in kubernetes

I want to use faust stream processing library inside a kubernetes container. I have a question for the faust tables persistence. I don’t know how the faust saves it’s tables. Is there a way to achieve that content of the tables will persist after the pod’s restarting due upgrades and so on?
