Firefox is having a lot of issues with emoji. It initially did not show some emojis in colour, as it was falling back to DejaVu’s emojis.
After installing the Twemoji font, all emojis worked perfectly, but fonts on websites were now not following the preferences set (I set Liberation fonts, the sites displayed something that looks like DejaVu). This is most noticable on Wikipedia.
I’ve uninstalled the Twemoji font, and then disabled DejaVu with Fonts Manager. This allowed the emojis to work, but caused the clock on the lock screen to have massive spaces between the numbers.
Someone suggested to edit
/etc/fonts/local.conf. I added
<match target="pattern"> <test qual="any" name="family"><string>EmojiOne Color</string></test> <edit name="family" mode="assign" binding="same"><string>Twemoji Mozilla</string></edit> </match>
The emojis worked on the test site, but they were very spaced out and they were still monochromatic on other websites.
Is there any other way to better enable emojis in Firefox that doesn’t cause a bunch of other issues come along?
