Finding Public APIs or Using a Webscraper

I am working on a program which returns a list of products sold in a certain area. Lets say I know the area is Denver and I want to find prices for renting chairs in the area. Would it be easier to reach out to local companies in Denver and ask for READ ONLY access to some of their APIs or possibly just find companies with public APIs, or to build a webscraper which would perform its own search.

I’m very familiar with APIs I am not sure how many companies have public APIs though. And I have almost no idea how webscrapers work but I would be willing to learn
