Dipole moments of organic compounds

Beginner to organic chemistry here. Only one of the options is correct According to me, it looks like both options (c),(d) are right. Since the dipole moments of option (c) molecule seem to negate each other(shown in the image below), so is option (d). However, only option (d) is right. Why? Please help. Thank You!

Can all oxygen be provided cutaneous in humans?

What partial pressure of oxygen is needed on the skin to completely replace the lungs function as oxygen receivers? Respiration has other functions too. I am only asking about oxygen intake. Oxygenation through the skin could eventually be used against ischaemia like gangrene and covid clotting. The skin might eventually be kept wet to improve […]

Is it a wise idea to use preservative free eye drops on a regular basis, if I use the computer a lot?

I use a computer for over 8 hours a day. Should I use preservative free eye drops on a regular basis to soothe my eyes? But if I use them on a regular basis, will they cause me to have a dependency on the dropsand reduce my eyes natural ability to make tears?

Do oxygen and carbon dioxide move with Brownian motion? And, if so, do they get trapped by N95 masks?

Do oxygen and carbon dioxide move with brownian motion? And, if so, do they get trapped by N95 masks? Health professionals are experts agree: we should be wearing masks all day when in public during the COVID-19 pandemic, and there are no health risks to wearing N95 respirators long-term, unless we have difficulty breathing (eg […]

Confusion in determining enantiomerism from R,S naming

I was interested in determining whether the two compounds below were each other’s enantiomers or not- Rotating (A) by 180 degrees in the plane of the screen we can clearly see the two are each other’s mirror images, and hence enantiomers. But, then I was naming them with R,S nomenclature when I got confused. Both […]

Comparing stability of CF3+ and CD3+

This is a question from my text book. Compare the stability of carbocation between $\ce{CF3^+}$ and $\ce{CD3+}$. The answer is given $\ce{CF3+}$ due to backbonding. But I see backbonding as a sort of resonance effect. And we know that for fluorine atom its inductive effect dominants its resonance effect, and so overall it is electron […]

Benefit of ice troll heart talisman?

Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden introduces ice trolls, whose hearts can (among other uses) be transformed into a talisman that functions like a patch of brown mold. I don’t understand why you’d want this. Is there a benefit that this confers, or could we at least reasonably infer the intent behind this option?
