My understanding is T10-DIFF/DIX( also known as T10-PI) was proposed to prevent silent data corruption. And of the hard disk/SSD vendors have already implemented/adopted this solution as part of their architecture. Still there are uncorrectable/silent error reported by the disk SMART metrics.
