Thunderbird: change color in compose window

I know Thunderbird UI is highly customizable through UserChrome.css. For example, changing the color of the window bar can be done easily: menubar, toolbar, nav-bar, #TabsToolbar > *{ background-color: rgb(245,199,18) !important; } But where can I find the names of the elements that I want to change ? For example, in the compose window, newer […]

When I receive external traffic from a specific interface, I want the outgoing packet to follow […]

I cannot edit my crontab in Ubuntu after saving the file

Edited Why would the below command cause crontab -e to show permission denied errors? /bin/sh /var/www/ers-api-proxy/backup.sh 1> /var/www/ers-api-proxy/log.txt 2> /var/www/ers-api-proxy/err.txt Crontab works fine for me until I run this command. When it stopped working originally, I restored my DO droplet and it began working again. Then when I ran the above command for a second […]

On-Prem SMTP Relay/Smarthost Recommendations

My software engineering group consistently has issues with emails with an IT-provided SMTP server where often that mail gets lost. What we’d like to do is set up something before our IT provided SMTP server which would queue and if any communication error is detected, would wait a bit and then retry to send. Ideally, […]

Error opening directory: Permission denied

I am stuck with a (probably) silly problem: modifying preferences in Zotero-standalone! I would like Zotero standalone in Ubuntu to point to the Zotero data in the Windows partition. directory permission The ‘Windows data partition’ is mounted on a folder of mine. So far Zotero replies that permission to access the directory is denied. What […]

Slack client on 18.04 and it is not updating properly

I ran “apt install ./slack-desktop-4.0.2-amd64.deb” on Bionic Beaver and I am able to login to my workspaces and channels. However, history is not loading and when I receive direct messages the name of the user does not show up. I suspect something is missing or incorrectly configured but am not sure where to look. I […]

Does running Ubuntu on a Chromebook via Crouton use more computing resouces than a dual-boot?

I’m considering the tradeoffs of setting up Crouton versus a dual-boot on an Asus C425 Chromebook, and it sounds like the Crouton route would use up additional RAM, processing capacity, etc., if it’s simply running a version of Ubuntu on top of the already-running ChromeOS. Is that an accurate assumption?
